Wind farm Heidmoor

Project status: in the construction phase

The photo above shows the Langstedt wind farm in Schleswig-Holstein, which is currently in operation.

Wind farm Heidmoor

WKN GmbH is planning the construction of six wind power turbines south-east of the village of Heidmoor in the municipality of the same name in Schleswig-Holstein. Five turbines are located in the municipality of Heidmoor and another one in the municipality of Nützen.

With the Heidmoor wind farm, we have the opportunity to make our contribution to the energy transition and thus combine ecology and economy. We are supplying safe, clean energy and investing in Germany as a business location.

About the planned wind turbines

The following specifications are subject to change and may change as the project progresses:

  • Number: 3 / 3
  • Type: Vestas V150 / V162
  • Rotor diameter: 150 m / 162 m
  • Hub height: 105 m / 119 m
  • Total height: 180 m / 200 m
  • Nominal output per WTG: 6 MW
  • Total rated power: 36 MW

This results in the following calculated values:

  • Electricity production per year: approx. 13,300 MWh
  • 3-person households supplied: approx. 3,600 (1)
  • CO2 savings per year: approx. 10,000 tonnes (2)

Environmental protection and nature conservation

Environmental and nature conservation measures play an important role in the approval of our projects: we take sensitive habitats, such as bird migration routes, into account as early as the site selection stage. In addition, necessary protective measures for endangered animal and plant species as well as ecological compensation measures are implemented. Interventions in nature and the landscape are thus fully compensated for in our projects.

Ecological compensation measures:
The interventions in the landscape and in kink structures required for the construction of the Heidmoor wind farm are compensated without exception through compensation payments, eco-accounts and tree planting on site.

Measures to reduce immission:
It goes without saying that the maximum permissible guide values for noise and impact shadows will be complied with. In order to reduce night-time light immissions, a demand-controlled night-time signalling system (BNK) will be installed. The system is equipped with ice detection systems to prevent the formation of ice. If icing is detected, the system is stopped and the rotor is brought to a standstill.

Regional added value

It is important to us to realise our wind farm projects together with local people.

We involve citizens through various individualised concepts. For example, we try to involve local companies – whether for construction or mowing work – in order to generate added value in the local region.

We very much welcome the fact that Section 6 of the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) 2023 has created the opportunity for local authorities within a 2.5-kilometre radius of the centre of a wind turbine to participate financially in its operation. It is therefore part of our self-image to offer the municipality of Heidmoor a voluntary contribution of 0.2 cents per kilowatt hour generated.
For modern wind turbines, this results in an annual payment of approx. 30,000 to 40,000 euros per turbine. The prerequisite for municipal participation under the EEG 2023 is the fulfilment of the legal requirements in the respective project.

Project history and future

The permit in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) for all six projected wind turbines was issued on 23 February 2023. The public was involved in the process.

The permit for laying the required cable route with a length of 12 kilometres was issued on 30.06.2023.

Your contact person

We attach great importance to honest, transparent and reliable dialogue. Our aim is to involve all citizens and political players in our future project and to exchange ideas on an equal footing.
