WKN wind farm Apensen II approved

Commissioning planned for 2016

The Husum-based WKN Group has obtained approval for its wind expansion project Apensen II. The project is located in the Stade district of Lower Saxony near the town of Buxtehude.

As an expansion of the existing 21-turbine wind farm Apensen, which was also developed by WKN, Apensen II is intended to start operations by the middle of next year. Apensen II comprises two Nordex N-117 wind turbines of the 3.0-megawatts category with a hub height of 141 metres each.

After commissioning, the Apensen II project will be transferred to PNE WIND YieldCo Deutschland of WKN's main shareholder PNE WIND.

"For WKN this expansion is of personal meaning. Some colleagues were already involved in developing the Apensen wind farm back in 2001," says COO Roland Stanze.
